Un fotografo incredibile. Un genio creativo. Le definizioni su Tim Walker si sprecano. Visitando “TimWalker: Storyteller”, la retrospettiva a lui dedicata presso la Somerset House di Londra con il supporto di Mulberry, non si può che restare affascinati dall’immaginario infinito che scaturisce dai suoi scatti.

A wonderful photographer. A creative genius. Nothing more to say. I visited the retrospective “TimWalker: Story Teller”  supported by Mulberry at Somerset House in London and I was struck by the unlimited images coming from his pictures.

Già l’allestimento sorprende perché in ogni stanza sono riproposti oggetti che popolano le sue fotografie…e non si tratta di oggetti qualunque: una bambola gigante, dei macro-insetti, una barca-cigno, un aeroplano.

The setting was amazing, in every room objects from his photos…and not ordinary objects: a giant doll, macro-bugs, a swan-shaped boat, a plane.

Alle pareti le immagini: dai bellissimi ritratti di celebrities, artisti e amici (tra cui il pensieroso Alexander McQueen che ci guarda poggiato su un teschio, un’eclettica Helena Bonham Carter in versione regale, una Tilda Swinton aviator-style etc…) fino a ricostruzioni oniriche di una realtà che ha tante storie da raccontare. Ecco allora che tutto è possibile: l’atterraggio di una navicella spaziale su cavalli e cani in corsa, un aeroplano di baguette, la rovinosa fine di Humpty Dumpty.

On the walls, the images: from beautiful celebrities, artists and friends portraits (a thoughtful Alexander McQueen looking towards us standing on a skull, the eclectic Helena Bonham Carter dressed like a queen, the aviator-style Tilda Swinton etc…) till to dreamlike reconstructions of reality who tells stories. So everything is possible: the landing of a space shuttle on running horses and dogs, a baguette-plane, the unhappy end of Humpty Dumpty.

In questo contesto, la moda ricopre il suo ruolo e ne esce esaltata: l’abito è protagonista, parla e racconta esso stesso una storia. A noi non resta che ammirare a bocca aperta.

In this way, fashion holds its task and is enhanced: the dress is the protagonist, speaks and tells a story itself. In the end we must only admire open-mouthed.
